Retroactive Continuity or How We Came to Live Here

Ok, so Tunnel Rat is starting to gel a bit as a character. I'm really horrible with deciding how a character is going to be to begin with and then successfully carrying it out. They always end up changing, usually for the better with play, so I rarely even try to define more than a few broad strokes at "creation" anymore.

One of the things I'm currently kicking around is how she actually came to be part of The Prodigy. Due to the way things got started with the group there wasn't a whole lot, or any really, sort of IC real time induction sort of stuff. Mostly, like a number of players, it was an expressed interest which lead to an invite and the assumption things would be figured out later.

Well it's later. I've put together a bit on Primus as a start.

But I'm looking for ideas on how to mesh her in with the group as of a few months ago time wise. Since a lot of that seems to be in flux I'm soliciting ideas to fit within whatever established continuity may exist at this point, generate some existing character ties, etc.

I know I haven't gotten to play with a lot of you too much yet, as I'm typically on at non-peak hours. But I figure this might be an interesting way to get to know some characters better as well as fulfilling my selfish goal of having some one else help do some of the brainstorming on my character's history.

All right, here's one thought. Xeno has spent a fair portion of her childhood as a ward of the state, residing in institutional state care. One possible link if your background goes that way is possibly knowing, or at least having had met Xeno through being in state care. Also, since I'm Australian, I am also often on at odd hours for Americans

Hmmm good question.

Maybe something that reflects ICly how I ended up joining OOCly.

The players that play Stormlight and Burninator were the ones that suggested I make a toon and join.

So...

One day Morning Star was fighting crime. While beating the bad guys he came across Stormlight. They made small talk. She suggested he should join them. He figured that joining might be a good way to get to know her or other hotties better.

Yeah.

The more I think about it the more I think this sort of delves into the lore of the group as a whole.

Things like

When exactly was the group founded? I know it's supposed to have been pretty recent, but was that 6-8 months ago or more like 3.

How exactly did the group form? Was it Ego and Quick deciding they maybe wanted to get something going and then thinking about some other people they knew and bringing in the other Firsts? Or was there some other process?

How did the word of the group get out there? Was it word of mouth for the most part or was there active recruiting like with some flyers and things being posted up looking for powered youths who might be dissatisfied with their current roles or otherwise looking to strike out on their own?



I think you get a little bit of the same sorts of questions whenever a group evolves OOC first and then moves in game as a semi-matured thing and continues its life there.
